These charismatic mammals, which include dogs, cats, hyenas, weasels, mongooses, seals, sea lions and bears, have always held special importance to humans throughout history and continue to do so today. About the Author
Steven W. Buskirk is Professor Emeritus of Zoology and Physiology, University of Wyoming, USA, where he taught mammalogy, wildlife biology, conservation biology and community ecology. He has conducted or overseen studies of mammals for over 40 years (mostly carnivorans in North America, South America, and Asia) and has served various agencies and NGOs on panels, boards, and other initiatives aimed at carnivorans of conservation concern.
