Description

Business model innovation is an important source of competitive advantage and corporate renewal. An increasing number of companies have to innovate their business models, not just because of competitive forces but also because of the ongoing change from product-based to service-based business models. Yet, business model innovation also involves organizational change process that challenges existing processes, structures and modes of control. This volume features thirteen chapters written by authorities on business model innovation. The specific angle, and the novel feature of this book, is to thoroughly examine the organizational dimension of business model innovation. Drawing on organizational theory and empirical observation, the contributors specifically highlight organizational design aspects of business model innovation, focusing on how reward systems, power distributions, routines and standard operating procedures, the allocation of authority, and other aspects of organizational structure and control should be designed to support the business model the firm chooses. Also discussed is how existing organizational structures, capabilities, beliefs, cultures and so on influence the firm's ability to flexibly change to new business models.

Reviews
This volume will appeal mostly to readers who are looking for a variety of ways to think about linkages between business model change and organizational change. Its strength lies in the diversity of perspectives and examples... The authors of the various chapters aim to open up avenues of inquiry for future research and identify different organizational factors that pose alignment challenges when a firm and/or its rivals change business models, rather than to extend theory. * Administrative Science Quarterly *
The book tackles an important and timely issue: the interface between organization and business model design. This interface has been surprisingly under-researched, although it is of utmost significance for practicing managers and entrepreneurs. The various chapters in the book link classic organization design issues with business model change and innovation in a compelling manner. A "must read" for both researchers and managers * Christoph Zott, Professor of Entrepreneurship, IESE Business School, University of Navara *
Foss and Saebi have assembled a world class group of scholars to critically examine business models, and, importantly, anchor that examination in an underlying theory of organizations. This will be a vital reference for scholars of business models and innovation. * Henry Chesbrough, UC Berkeley Professor, and author of Open Innovation *

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
