Description

Building a Psychologically Safe Work Environment provides a roadmap

to enable the creation of spaces in organizations where voices are

heard, actions taken, and lives improved. Written in an approachable

question-and-answer format, the book offers a valuable "dip

in and out" approach to questions surrounding psychological safety

in professional life.

Written by an expert business psychologist, it provides guidance

on such topics as what psychological safety is, why it is important,

how to tell if you work in a psychologically safe environment, and

what actions leaders can take to make their workplace more psychologically

safe. Through an examination of current research and

in-depth analysis of real-life examples, the book takes a systemic

approach that equips you with the tools to make the changes in

your own workplace that will have the greatest impact on your

teams and yourself. In so doing, it empowers you to create an

inclusive work environment that is engaging, respectful, challenging,

and effective.

Making the concept of psychological safety easily accessible and

offering tips on how to increase psychological safety within your

own workplace, this is the ideal guide for leaders of all levels, from

those first stepping up to seasoned managers.

Reviews

"Binna Kandola has pulled off a remarkable feat, delivering such a thorough but also compact study of psychological safety, its uses and significance. He shows how important and subtle cultural issues can be at work. His examples are rich and varied, and the lessons he draws from them useful and "actionable". This highly practical book will equip any manager with modern and humane methods and approaches. This is the guide to psychological safety we have been waiting for."

Stefan Stern, author and former FT management columnist

"Suppressing difficult conversations today leads to more difficult conversations and worse situations tomorrow. This excellent and timely book examines these issues through compelling case studies, from the Tour de France to the aviation industry, and provides practical guidance for developing organizational cultures and processes that enable people to speak up."

Dr Mark Robinson, Director of the Socio-Technical Centre and Associate Professor, University of Leeds, UK

"This book offers a thoughtful and well-evidenced guide to building psychologically safe environments at work. Its strength lies in its clarity, its grounding in research, and its practical application to real-world organisational challenges. For those of us who believe inclusion is fundamental to business success, this is an invaluable resource. I highly recommend it."

Nimesh Shah, CEO Blick Rothenberg

"This book is a powerful and timely contribution to the field. Grounded in rigorous psychological research-both classic and contemporary-it brings the concept of psychological safety to life in a way that is accessible, practical and deeply relevant to today's workplaces. From famous studies on group behaviour and authority to modern examples from global organisations, it seamlessly connects theory to action. Whether you're a leader, a team member or a change agent, you'll find insight and inspiration here. I couldn't put it down!"

Chris Yates, SVP Talent, Equinix

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
