Description

Sally and her dog Tucker often sit on a hill overlooking the water and watch her friends sailing their boats. But instead of joy and pleasure, the sight fills her with pain and anger, because Sally is sitting in a wheelchair as a result of a car accident. At the doctor's office, Sally meets a brave man who has discovered that his wheelchair need not be a prison, and Tucker finds a little duck with a broken wing hiding in the yard. These two new unlikely friends teach Sally that with help from others, a determination to succeed, and lots of hard work, miracles can happen. Early reader-ages 5-8.

About the Author
Mick Blackistone comes from a long line of Marylanders. His ancestors settled on the lower Potomac River in 1634. He has kept his close ties to the Chesapeake by involving himself in bay issues throughout his career. Formerly the vice president of government relations for the National Marine Manufacturers Association, Blackistone served on numerous committees and councils regarding boating issues. In 1992, the governor of Maryland, William Donald Schaefer, honored Blackistone with the distinction of "Admiral of the Chesapeake" for his work at promoting environmental awareness and recreational boating. The award-winning author has written several books for children and adults on environmental protection of the bay, commercial fishing, and the disabled. His titles include Dancing with the Tide and Broken Wings Will Fly. Jennifer Heyd Wharton is well known for her watercolors, murals, and illustrations. Her paintings have won numerous awards from several art societies and federations in the eastern United States. She is a member of the Baltimore Watercolor Society, and the Academy of Arts in Maryland. She is a featured artist in major galleries in Maryland, Washington, D.C., Virginia, and surrounding states. Wharton and two artist partners own Troika Gallery Fine Art Studio in Easton, Maryland. Wharton has illustrated several books, including Broken Wings Will Fly, Chesapeake Bay Walk and First Sail.

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
