About the Author
Hanne-Ruth Thompson received her Ph.D. in Bengali at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London and her MA in linguistics at Freiburg University, Germany. She has lived in Bangladesh and has written a colloquial dictionary for foreign language learners, Essential Everyday Bengali. She teaches Bengali at SOAS and resides in England with her hus-band and three children.
