The battlefields of England and Scotland are a strongly neglected but important part of our national heritage, and what remains today and the current usage of the sites is very varied. The author gives each battle its historical context, describes the action in relation to the landscape and discusses the remains of the site and what can be found today.

John Kinross is a member of the 'Friends of Friendless Churches' and is a lay reader. He has previously written a number of books on churches and castles across England and Wales. He has worked for various London publishers including 'County Life' and is a life member of the Fortess Study Group. He lives in Herefordshire.
