Description

Despite the warnings of the scientific community, humanity has so far failed to respect some essential compatibility limits to ensure sustainable development. Is it possible to change the course? This book tries to give an answer, focusing on climate change. It addresses the necessity of meeting the Paris Agreement temperature target and what framework could enable effective, efficient, and fair (equitable distributional) climate action that is consistent with that goal. It also looks at how technological change within the economic system can contribute to it, including the feasibility of a global energy transition. Whether humanity can avoid catastrophic climate change appears to be not a technological question, but rather a question of international cooperation. Given the various sustainability issues, this book also explores the question of whether it is possible to derive a general approach to these issues. It is argued that dealing with compatibility limits in complex systems requires a holistic change in the system structure. Therefore, systems science is introduced and brought together with economics, technological change, and sustainable development. Providing evidence based on the latest climate science research on the necessity of meeting the Paris Agreement temperature target Highlighting the feasibility of the global energy transition as one major option to mitigate climate change, also going into detail about the process of technological change Bringing together systems science with economics, technological change, and sustainable development Deriving a framework to meet the Paris Agreement temperature target, enabling coordinated climate action in an effective and efficient manner while pursuing distributive justice

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
