Description

A collection of four linked stories of family life set in modern west Africa.

Anna Hibiscus lives in amazing Africa with her mother, her father, her baby twin brothers, and lots and lots of her family. Join her as she splashes in the sea, prepares for a party, sells oranges, and hopes to see sweet, sweet snow!

About the Author

Atinuke is a Nigerian storyteller. She draws upon her recent ancestry from Yoruba land, England and Wales, and more ancient origins of Spain, Portugal and China, to tell stories from both the world of folktales and contemporary life. She lives in Wales with her husband and two sons. Anna Hibiscus is her first title for Walker Books.

Lauren Tobia worked as an intensive care nurse before graduating from the University of the West of England with a degree in Illustration. While studying, she was highly commended in the Macmillan Children's Book Prize. She lives in Bristol and has two daughters and a greyhound called Mickey.

In her first novel, storyteller Atinuke guides us through Anna's throughly modern multicultural life and family and Lauren Tobia's evocative illustrations spill around the text. * Juno *
An interesting read in which we learn to appreciate the joys of African life. * Cork Evening Echo *
Memorable and enchanting. * School Library Journal *
A life-affirming way to encourage your child to celebrate simple joys * Junior *
a story of sizzling happiness that starts small and grows irrepressibly...her township is beautifully drawn...a book to put - and keep - a smile on your face * The Observer *
There are so many reasons to love the Anna Hibiscus books as wonderful stories with beautiful illustrations; but the inclusion of a mixed-race family and unfamiliar cultural setting make these important books to share with every child * Child-Led Chaos *

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
