This volume is still by far the most complete print bibliography we have dealing with 19th and 20th century analytical studies. It is an essential part of any post-secondary music collection, and will certainly be found on the work desks of most of us who work analytically with these repertoires. * Fontes Artis Musicae, Fall 2009 *
This bibliography lists analyses of works of about 1,000 nineteenth and twentieth century composers. It incorporates the entire content of Arthur Wenk's Analyses of Nineteenth- and Twentieth-Century Music, 1940-1985 , extending the list to the year 2000. Writings included examine form, harmony, melody, rhythm, and other structural aspects of music; they do not refer to jazz, popular music, or world music. An author index is provided.
