SA PEN brings you a brand new anthology of writings from Africa, a collection that will to give the reader insight into what African writers are experiencing and writing about in the new decade. A total of 530 entries were received for the 2011 PEN/Studzinski Literary Award. The "sifter" reading process was completed in September 2010, with a total of 1109 readings having taken place. The title will has eleven shortlisted writers with the three winners (chosen by J.M Coetzee) to be announced at the launch of the book. SA PEN's main purpose is to encourage literature in the 15 SADC countries from which the original short-stories were received. Over the years they have launched authors who have since gone on to publish their own full works of fiction.
