About the Author
Tom Disch was born in Des Moines, Iowa in 1940. An acclaimed science fiction author, he has published ten novels, ten poetry collections, five short story collections, two opera libretti, two plays and two works of poetry criticism. Two of his childrens' books, The Brave Little Toaster and The Brave Little Toaster Goes To Mars, were adapted as feature films by Disney. He has written for The T.L.S., The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Nation, etc. Anvil published an earlier collection under the interesting title ABCDEFG HIJKLM NPOQRST UVWXYZ. He has won two O. Henry Prizes for his short stories, a Hugo award for The Dreams Our Stuff is Made Of and an America Academy of Arts & Letters Special Award.
