Description

Every Pierce and Ward home tells a story. Emily and Louisa believe that there is a beauty in the unfolding of a room that takes the eye dancing from one piece to the next, swirling over velvets of peach and gold, gliding over glass and marble, and stopping to take in the homeowner s precious sentimental favorites. As the designers for such Hollywood powerhouses, supermodels, and rock stars as Brie Larson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Dakota Johnson, Kate Hudson, and Karen Elson, Pierce and Ward artfully blend classic elements and fanciful touches, creating an irresistible kaleidoscope of patterns, textures, art, and objects. Stately striped wallpaper mixes with French florals. Brass-lion bookends sit beside trays inlaid with glinting mother-of-pearl. Milk-glass globes hang down hallways like glowing moons to guide one s path. Humble finds from eBay and lovingly worn textiles mix with museum-quality art and family photos. This book will teach readers about organized abundance and un-gaudy decadence, with a dash of restraint for good measure: it s an evocative and inspiring ode to the art of more.

About the Author
Louisa Pierce and Emily Ward met in 2012 and instantly knew they were kindred spirits. Soon after, they moved to Nashville and formed Pierce and Ward. Neither had formal interior design training; their friend Karen Elson was their first client. Their clients include Emma Roberts, Sam and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Colin Hanks, and Lily Aldridge and Caleb Followill of Kings of Leon. Emily lives in Los Angeles with her partner, Giovanni Ribisi, and their twins. Louisa lives in Nashville with her husband, Austin Scaggs, and their two children.

Reviews
"From the very first pages of this debut book from AD100 firm Pierce & Ward, readers are in for a treat. However, it may not be for the minimalist-minded. It kicks off with an ode to "the art of more," and everything that follows-including the graphic design of the book itself, which features ornate lettering, bold stripes, and lots of historical patterns-lives up to that ethos. Designers Emily Ward and Louisa Pierce spill their style secrets-they favor antique Persian and Turkish rugs, and avoid using too much wood in an interior, as it "can veer into a lodge vibe"-while giving readers a glimpse into certain favorite projects, including the homes of A-list clients Melanie Griffith, Josh Brolin, and Kate Hudson." -ARCHITECTURAL DIGEST.COM

"Pierce & Ward are a design duo that has burst onto the scene in the last few years with Hollywood clients including Leonardo DiCaprio, Brie Larson, Kate Hudson, and Dakota Johnson. Their recent book from Rizzoli covers their journey as only they can, with richly patterned pages, luxe photography, and the unique stories behind their work. Pick this one up for the richly layered book design on its own. And be sure to check out our recent interview with the pair." - CHAIRISH BLOG

"Holiday Gift Guide: Louisa Pierce and Emily Ward have created homes for the likes of Brie Larson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Dakota Johnson, and Kate Hudson. In their first book, the duo behind Pierce & Ward pulls back the curtain on their collected, livable style and just what goes into it."

"Holiday Gift Guide: If you're curious to learn more about AD100 firm Piece & Ward, look no further than their new book, A Tale of Interiors. Inside awaits a masterclass study in just what makes their design point of view their own. Expect florid wallpapers and fabrics, cozy upholstered furniture, and a certain identifiable characteristic that allows traditional and modern elements to blend seamlessly together." -ARCHITECTURAL DIGEST.COM

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
