Description

Aldo is an experienced sailor and knows that the first thing to do when sailing is to set a destination. A destination that can be reached even though there will be unexpected events and a level of ingenuity required along the way. As Aldo says you will always get somewhere.

Join Aldo and his young companion in this gentle story that proves that it is the journey itself and not the destination that really matters. A perfect tale of resilience and adaptability, this book presents a metaphor for life, with its changes in course and unexpected surprises. And, of course, the most beautiful destination of all: the journey itself.

About the Author

Sara Stefanini was born in Sorengo, Switzerland in 1982. She graduated in illustration and multimedia animation at the IED in Milan in 2006. She currently works as a graphic designer and freelance illustrator for both Italian and foreign magazines and publishing houses. In 2016, she was selected for the Bologna Children's Book Fair Illustrators Exhibition.

Reviews

The text is full of advice for a child that are both words of encouragement for a young sailor and a more general manual for life - 'what counts is taking time to enjoy the journey...' 'to take stock and not to lose heart.'

* Books for Keeps *

This is a beautifully illustrated and heartfelt story that captures the thrill, challenges, and life lessons of a young sailing adventure ... A testament to the journey being as important as the destination. Stefanini's artistic and storytelling ability make this book a compelling read that fosters resilience and inspires creativity.

-- Jessica Griffin * Children's Books Ireland *

Impeccably illustrated, it's a story about trust, knowledge, adaptability, resilience and living in the moment.

-- Deborah MacLaren * LoveReading4Kids *

Graphic illustration with a limited but vibrant palette, satisfying composition and a sense of depth in the scene despite flat colour. Life lessons in a sustained metaphor.

* Nicolette Jones *

Little ones will be more than happy to climb aboard with Aldo and his young companion in this gentle story of resilience and adaptability which blends Stefanini's enchanting artwork with a beautifully a simple text full of words of encouragement for any young 'sailor' unsure of life's ebb and flow.

* Lancashire Post *

With its gentle, philosophical text and beautiful graphics, this book will look equally at home on children's and adult bookshelves and coffee tables

* Shelf Editions *

It's the kind of book unafraid to muse on life a little . . . A title that makes it clear that the journey is far more important, sometimes, than the destination.

* School Library Journal *

This many layered book is a delicate metaphor for life, an adventure story and an introduction to sailing and diving suitable for readers from 4 years upwards.

-- Eve Bearne * Just Imagine *

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
