Description

What sort of tree did Robin Hood's bow come from? What pine tree drops its needles in the winter and how did the monkey puzzle get its name? These are just some of the wonderful facts that you'll discover inside this book.

Trees give us shade and the oxygen we breathe, like tall green giants that watch over us. And they are beautiful!

Use the delicate illustrations and simple text to help your child identify the trees they see every day, whether they live in the country or the city. This book is a wonderful way of encouraging a child to interact with their environment, helping them to respect and protect the trees that surround them.

A beautifully illustrated and engaging guide to trees for children.

About the Author

Charlotte Voake is an internationally acclaimed children's author and artist. She studied art history but always wanted to be an illustrator. She recently won the Smarties Silver Medal Award for her picture book, The Pizza Kitten.

Kate Petty lived in Cornwall with her husband, Mike, before tragically dying from cancer in May 2007. She was both an extraordinary writer and an extraordinary person. The author of a number of novelty and pop-up books, including the innovative The Great Grammar Book and The Wonderful World Book, Kate was also involved in creating amazing books for the Eden Project children's book list.

Jo Elworthy is in charge of education at the Eden Project in Cornwall. She has previously written books on plants and worked for Channel 4.

Reviews
Voake, whose charming drawings have a touch of Edward Ardizzone about them, has written a marvellous book about how to grow, measure and identify trees -- Kate Kellaway * Observer *
The watercolour illustrations are mini works of art . . . Pure delight, we loved it! Highly recommended! * Hot Brands Cool Places *
It would make an excellent gift for a child (or an incompletely educated adult like me) and is a must-have resource for all environmentally aware schools * School Librarian *
An attractively illustrated introduction to this subject, combining instructions and ideas for getting to know trees better, in which watercolour illustrations capture the form and beauty of each variety. The trees are well chosen - even the most urban of children won't have to look far to find a tree that they can look up at. * Junior Education Plus *

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
