Description

Thoroughly updated and expanded, the second edition of A History of U.S. Feminisms is an introductory text that will be used as supplementary material for first-year women's studies students or as a brush-up text for more advanced students. Covering the first, second, and third waves of feminism, A History of U.S. Feminisms will provide historical context of all the major events and figures from the late nineteenth century through today. The chapters cover: first-wave feminism, a period of feminist activity during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries which focused primarily on gaining women's suffrage second-wave feminism, which started in the '60s and lasted through the '80s and emphasized the connection between the personal and the political and third-wave feminism, which started in the early '90s and is best exemplified by its focus on diversity and intersectionality, queer theory, and sex-positivity.

About the Author
Rory Dicker is the Director of the Margaret Cuninggim Women's centre at Vanderbilt University. A native of New York State, Rory earned a bachelor of arts from the Johns Hopkins University, where she majored in English and minored in French. After completing her Ph.D. in English at Vanderbilt, Rory taught at Westminster College in Missouri for several years before returning to Vanderbilt to teach, mainly in the Women's and Gender Studies program, where she was Associate Director for four years. Rory teaches classes about women and literature, feminist pedagogy, and the history of American feminisms. She is the coeditor of Catching a Wave: Reclaiming Feminism for the 21st Century. She spends much of her time outside of work with her husband and two daughters. A lover of the coast who has lived in a landlocked state for many years, she tries to make it to the beach once a year. She considers herself a bookworm at heart and finds herself happiest when she is immersed in a great read.

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
