Description

'Warm, sad and funny... There is something very eccentric and British about A Fan for All Seasons' - Sunday Times

'A heartfelt memoir through grief, family and a very funny, obsessive love of sports' - Cariad Lloyd, host of Griefcast

A funny, heartfelt, nostalgia-infused story of grief, sport and the journey of a lifetime.

What do you do when your world changes in an instant? For Jon Harvey, after the sudden death of his brother, it meant turning to the thing that had given him support, joy and a lifetime of memories: sport, in all its myriad sublime and ridiculous forms. A kaleidoscopic twelve months took him from London Olympia to ancient Olympia, from rugby balls to Rubik's Cubes, Wimbledon tennis to Wimbledon greyhounds, Twickenham to Frimley Green, Roger Federer to Martin 'Wolfie' Adams, and much, much more. It's a celebration, of a life shaped by sport, and the ultimate season ticket.

About the Author
Jon Harvey is a comedy writer, producer and performer. He has produced and written for many of the biggest satirical TV shows of the last thirty years, including The Thick Of It, Have I Got News For You, Time Trumpet with Armando Iannucci, Yes Minister and Last Week Tonight With John Oliver. His Radio 4 shows with Rob Newman have won two BBC Audio Drama Awards, and his online comedy videos have amassed over 70 million hits. In 2019 the New Yorker garlanded him for creating one of the 'Jokes of the Year' with his Succession parody starring Boris Johnson. He is also the human alter-ego of Count Binface, the alien political candidate who in 2021 became officially voters' ninth choice to be Mayor of London, beating Piers Corbyn and UKIP.

Reviews
Warm, sad and funny... There is something very eccentric and British about A Fan for All Seasons * Sunday Times *
Vivid and funny... This is a wonderfully touching book about fandom and grief * Daily Mail *
Both funny and frivolous, sad and serious... an uplifting book that ultimately serves to help explain and excuse the time we all spend watching sport * Radio Times *
The book...[has] honesty and passion at its heart. Jon Harvey is an excellent recreator of the atmosphere at a packed stadium or a hushed theatre... Most affectingly of all, he shows how sport can play its part in grieving * Times Literary Supplement *
Acute, funny and moving * Ian Hislop *

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
