Crisply synthesising a vast array of historical material, Fulbrook explores the interrelationships between social, political and cultural factors in the light of scholarly controversies. Since the second edition in 2004, there have been important changes in Germany, Europe and the wider world. This new edition features a significantly expanded chapter on Germany since 1990, encapsulating recent and dramatic developments that have transformed Germany's character and international standing. This single-volume history of Germany offers broad and accessible coverage and provides a useful guide for students, general readers, travellers to Germany and anyone with an interest in German history.

Reviews
'Clear, concise, and authoritative - still by far the best short introduction to German history available.' Neil Gregor, University of Southampton
'Mary Fulbrook guides the reader through the complexities of German history with energy and aplomb. Her newly updated Concise History of Germany is authoritative, thought-provoking and lively, illuminating key debates and conveying the larger sweep of political, social, economic and cultural developments over a long time span alongside sharply drawn key episodes. It is the ideal introduction to German history, right up to the present day.' Elizabeth Harvey, University of Nottingham

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
