Description

No matter what you teach, there is a 100 Ideas title for you! The 100 Ideas series offers teachers practical, easy-to-implement strategies and activities for the classroom. Each author is an expert in their field and is passionate about sharing best practice with their peers. Each title includes at least ten additional extra-creative Bonus Ideas that won't fail to inspire and engage all learners. _______________ For students at secondary school, each day brings a different set of challenges to be faced - especially for the increasing number of young people diagnosed with autism. Not only do secondary students have to contend with the anxieties that come with adolescence, but they also have to learn to cope with increasingly difficult work across numerous subject areas, and the added pressure of exams. This book helps teachers develop subtle learning strategies that will help create an inclusive, quality teaching environment where pupils with autism can be supported during this time of change. It breaks down the key areas of potential difficulty and offers step-by-step strategies, ideas, case studies and links to resources in a style that is easy and accessible. Key topics include transition, assessment, anxiety support, behaviour, social skills and communication, and teasing and bullying. This is the ultimate troubleshooting guide that every secondary school teacher should have to hand.

Brand new title in the 100 Ideas series that gives valuable support, advice and suggests teaching strategies for secondary school teachers who want to ensure they are creating a supportive learning environment for children with autism within their classroom.

Reviews
'This book asks us first to consider why a student on the autism spectrum may have difficulty with a task or situation, before providing 100 ideas for support and strategies. It clearly explains that not all students will want or benefit from the same approach: asking parents and the students themselves what might help is key.' -- Dr Glenys Jones, Chartered Psychologist, Autism Centre for Education and Research, University of Birmingham, UK
Throughout the book, it is clear that autism should not be used as an excuse to hold students back, but by supporting them to celebrate the individual nature of their situation, they can thrive and cope with situations just like all members of a school community. This book is important and should be firmly utilised in all secondary schools, offering support for teachers who may be unaware of the challenges of daily situations faced by those living with autism. Claire Bullock is an authority on working in the autistic arena, and the ideas and advice all flow from her experiences working on a daily basis with children with autism. -- UKEdChat
Let's face it, time is a premium for teachers and other education professionals. So having a book that so easy to browse and discover tried and tested suggestions - is incredible value. -- Special Educational Needs Resources Blog

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
