A characterful four-note motif punctuates the piano part, which provides a steady rhythmic cushion for the stylistically syncopated and catchy melodic lines. This soul-searching piece is brought to a close by an empowering final chorus that celebrates moving forwards on a different path away from difficult times towards somewhere hopeful and new.

About the Author
Jenny Mahler started writing music for female voices and experimenting with harmonies from a young age. Having trained as a classical pianist, she became an accompanist for an ex-miners' choir, falling so in love with choral music that she decided to take the conductor's baton herself. Mahler has directed, performed with, and composed for choirs internationally and from across a multiplicity of genres including gospel, musical theatre, secular, and sacred music, all of which contribute towards her distinctive composing style.

The vocal lines, with their syncopated and snappy rhythms, will be fun to sing and the themes, which are never simplistic but slightly abstract, are therefore highly suitable for young singers.
