Born in Albany, New York, Charles R. Callanan has worked as manager of a symphony orchestra, vice-president of a heavy construction firm, teacher as an inner-city high school, and headmaster of a private school near Baltimore. Married for thirty-seven years, he is the father of six children, one of whom, Owen, is the hero of this book.
