Description

This great-value pack of two essential resources offers students and newly qualified doctors a definitive resource on clinical medicine. Unique among medical texts, the Oxford Handbook of Clinical Medicine is a complete and concise guide to the core areas of medicine that also encourages thinking about the world from the patient's perspective, to develop a holistic approach to care with a passion for practice. The eleventh edition has been fully updated to reflect the latest changes in clinical practice and best management, filled with expert knowledge, practical advice, and reassurance, each page has been reviewed by a consultant and trainee. Oxford Clinical Guidelines: Newly Qualified Doctor summarises the key clinical practice guidelines which all final year medical students and Foundation Year 1 and 2 doctors should know when managing common conditions. Logically organised by medical specialty, the reader can quickly familiarise themselves with the key principles of diagnosis and management at the appropriate level for beginning a new rotation on the wards. Each entry has been written by a trainee, reviewed by and approved by senior consultants. Together these two pocketbooks provide a complete companion for the practice and philosophy of modern medicine and the clinical guidelines which underpin modern care ensuring you have everything you need at your fingertips whether on the go, in clinical sessions, or for revision.

Reviews
Created initially from a medical students final revision notes. Concise, balanced, practical and plastic-covered to repel unmentionable liquids and yet containing enough humility and humanity for its voice to be that of a supportive experienced friend rather than a critical professor. * Professor Max Watson, eHospice [OHCM] *
The bees' knees of medicine. . . A brilliant all-round book. * The Student Room [OHCM] *
Incredibly helpful in almost all situations, information well laid out and easy to find, engaging to read ... useful asides to aid memorisation, essential algorithms/reference intervals helpfully situated on front and back inside covers; a generally excellent and clearly very well-thought-out book. * Tom Dalton, University of Birmingham, UK [OHCM] *
I very much appreciated the very human and caring aspect it brings to clinical medicine, it's lovely to have the dry, biomedical material broken up with humorous, motivational and touching stories. * Sam Siljee, University of Otago, New Zealand [OHCM] *
THE best book that a medical student could ever use. Everything is so easy to find, and is just enough depth for me! * Alexander Wibberley, 3rd year medical student, University of Leeds [OHCM] *
Like many other students I use the book as a quick reference/recall and revision tool, and for that it is (for lack of a better word) perfect. Every medical student in their clinical years should own one of these, and I think most of them already do! If you don't you are missing out. * Paddy Green, almostadoctor.co.uk [OHCM] *
Incredibly thorough and really well thought out. This [book] would be incredibly helpful both in clinical practice day to day and as a tool to prepare for exams * Foundation Year 1 doctor (newly qualified doctor), Croydon University Hospital, UK [OCG] *
Perfectly pitched to its target audience. I wish I had this book when I started as a medical trainee * ST1 Radiology Trainee, University Hospital Southampton, UK [OCG] *
Clear, informative, and full of detail * Internal medical trainee stage 2 (qualified doctor for 4 years), County Durham and Darlington Foundation Trust, UK [OCG] *
This book is an ambitious attempt to aggregate the most widely used and current clinical practice guidelines in a small, portable format. It achieves this aim well, especially for its intended audience: doctors in training. The book will be a valuable resource for students and trainees seeing patients in the clinic or hospital. It will also be beneficial for more experienced general practice doctors, as a refresher for infrequently seen conditions. The book can serve as a reference text in a medical school library, as it provides an overview of topics likely to be on in-training tests. I recommend this book to physicians-in-training in the U.K., especially trainees in medical school and general practice. * Jack Harrigan, MD Candidate (University of Kansas School of Medicine - Wichita) [OCG] *

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
