About the Author

For Rita Maassen, designing is a passion: the trained web and graphic designer has been enthralled with knitting since childhood. Very early on, she became enthusiastic about creating her own designs, and ever since then, she has been creating new knitting designs in her small studio in Germany's Lower Rhine region. Since 2010, she has been offering her handmade fashion and numerous knitting patterns under her own Fashionworks label.

The designs in this beautiful book are modern, simple and are all oh so gorgeous!

I love the concept of being able to decide what collar you like, what length sleeves you prefer and being able to create a unique and wearable garment that you have made yourself.

The sweaters are basic designs, of which there are six to choose from. You then choose what your specifications are and use the pattern provided. These can then create 23 designs, but over 70,000 different sweaters can be made using the various changes that have been selected.

Mix and Match is an easy to understand guide, and while you do need to be able to knit, a few basic knitting tutorial pages are included that will help a new knitter to learn. Filled with inspiration, the sweaters are photographed beautifully. The colours chosen for the designs are perfect for chilly days.

What an informative book for knitters who would like to tweak or create their own designs. Rita outlines all the basic jumpers patterns and shows how they can be changed to suit the person's needs. I love the idea of lace sleeves and borders against a stocking stitch body of a jumper.

The book will let your imagination go wild and give the confident knitter the opportunity to experiment. Whether you like crew, v neck, boat neck or rolled necked tops for a jumper, it is now your decision and then you can progress to a cable, textured, plain or lace body and sleeves. Hems can also be varied, so to make things a bit different why not try a cable hem and cuffs instead of the usual rib?
