Description

Over the years, de Havilland Canada has manufactured a number of remarkable commercial aircraft: the Beaver (considered the ultimate bush plane, against which every other bush plane is measured), Otter, Twin Otter, Dash 7 and Dash 8. It also developed the unique Buffalo and Caribou military transports, some of which ended up in airline operations. From floatplane operations in Canada, Alaska and the Pacific and up-country flying in Twin Otters in Africa and elsewhere, to glacier operations with the Turbo Otter, Dash 7s in Greenland and operations with major airlines worldwide, these aircraft have been used all around the world in a variety of different roles. By combining history, facts and figures with anecdotes, commentary and quotes, this book, which is illustrated with over 200 stunning photographs, celebrates these legendary aircraft.

About the Author
Chris Buckley's career has included time in Martinique, French West Indies, working for Eastern Airlines; followed by sales and management positions with de Havilland Canada in Toronto, and later by senior executive positions at Airbus in Toulouse. He has held board positions with several companies, including Nordic Aviation Capital in Denmark and EFW, a subsidiary of ST Aerospace in Singapore. He is a shareholder and director of Emerald Airlines, a new Irish airline which will start flying as a partner of Aer Lingus very shortly. A lifelong aviation enthusiast, historian and photographer, Chris Buckley has written some 25 feature articles for specialist magazine Propliner, about his many adventures in very old propeller-driven airliners (and the pilots who fly them) in remote parts of the world.

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
