Description

This text brings together a range of specially-commissioned chapters to provide an accessible introduction to Security Studies in the 21st century. Thethird edition has been expanded to cover non-military challenges to security, and includes new learning aids.

An outstanding book, written by distinguished scholars, that provides a comprehensive picture of security and strategy in our time. It stands out from other texts in better balancing theoretical insights and empirical investigations, and in bringing out so clearly the core debates and dilemmas that define security and international order in the 21st century.' - Amitav Acharya, American University, Washington DC 'For university students trying to make sense of a rapidly changing international security environment, good conceptually-driven texts such as Contemporary Security and Strategy are crucial. This third edition deftly combines international relations theory with critical thinking and 'real world' substantive issues.' - Douglas A. Borer, Naval Postgraduate School, California Reviews of the 1st edition: '[A] good set of essays that can be used for both graduate and undergraduate courses in security studies... It will be an important resource for scholars and advanced students of military security. It provides a structured and balanced overview, together with a comprehensive bibliography. It should be a 'must buy' for security studies courses.' - Malcolm Chalmers, International Affairs '... the papers are of a uniformly high standard, written with admirable clarity, and they provide a useful introduction to the topics that are addressed.' - Duncan Bell, Millennium

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
