Description

This book aims to address the imminent needs of social workers in the effort of eradicating anti-Asian racism in the current historical and political context. Asian Americans have become the fastest growing population among all racial and ethnic groups in the last two decades. Recent events have highlighted incidents of anti-Asian racism which has a long history tied to various marginalized identities in the U.S. This book examines the experience and impact of racism from the perspective of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, and delve into the need to seek out evidence-based micro, mezzo, and macro solutions. This comprehensive book intends to serve as a timely resource for social work educators, researchers and practitioners committed to eliminating racism experienced by a population that will no longer accept the label of being “invisible.” Beginning since the 18th century, Asian Americans have experienced persistent racism, marginalizing stereotyping, microaggressions, verbal and physical attacks, hate crimes and harassments motivated by individual-level racism and xenophobia. Further, at the institutional level, the United States has often implicitly or explicitly reinforced, encouraged, or perpetuated anti-Asian racism. This book is the first of its kind to systematically examine the history of anti-Asian racism in the U.S., its impact on Asian American communities, and the innovative, evidence-based solutions that social work educators, practitioners, and researchers can adopt to dismantle anti-Asian racism.

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
